First Annual Backdrop Baller Dodgeball Tournament

Backdrop and ImPRessions are holding the first annual Backdrop Baller Dodgeball Tournament!

The cost per team is $20 (cash or check) upon registration, and each team will consist of six to 10 players. Teams can can wear any uniform they choose as long as it includes close-toed or tennis shoes. The winning team will be the first annual “Backdrop Ballers” and be featured in the spring issue of Backdrop Magazine in addition to receiving the coveted possession of the golden dodgeball.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Athens Food Initiative, while the remaining proceeds will go back into the creation of Backdrop Magazine.

Backdrop Winter Release Party

The new issue of Backdrop Magazine drops on Thursday  February 25th. To celebrate we are having a psychedelic release party, “All You Need is Backdrop”, at the Union at 10 p.m.  Saturday, February 27th, featuring local bands Whale Zombie, Tribe of the Mountain, Shank Bone and Elemental Groove Theory.
The cover is $3 for those over 21, and $4 for those under.
We are going all out for this event with 60s era decorations, tie-dye and trippy lights. Feel free to get yourself into the spirit by throwing on your bell bottoms, fringed suede jacket and John Lennon O-sunglasses.

Backdrop Bazaar – Take Two

Old man winter put a damper on the quarterly Backdrop Bazaar, so we are having a rain check on Wednesday, February 17 from 10 AM to 4 PM in the Front Room of the Baker Student Center.

There will be tons of hot vintage clothing items including men’s and women’s tops, bottoms, shoes, outwear and accessories. We will also be selling multimedia products, Backdrop merchandise, household items and a bunch of other cool things you ought to have in your dorm room or uptown apartment.

Check us out before the pickings get slim.

We are giving away two free tickets to the Dr. Dog concert on February 12th at Columbus’ Newport Music Hall. The Paparazzi Party was a complete success, filled with dirty dancing, debutantes and flashing lights.

Our staff photographers have combed through all their photos to bring the hottest pictures from the night.

Tell us which photos you think are the most “Gaga” by viewing them and sharing them with your friends. The five photos that receive the most comments will advance to the final round of the competition, which will be determined by votes cast by you.

Winners of the final round will receive exciting Backdrop related prizes.

Get ready for those flashing lights, because Backdrop magazine will be your biggest fan tonight as we celebrate the relaunch of Backdropmag.com with the Paparazzi Party at The Union from 10 p.m. -  2 .a.m.
It’s $3 if you are over 21 and $4 if you are under.  So get the change that’s in between your couch cushions or at the bottom of your purse, and come show off your style for the camera.

Dress to impress, because Backdrop’s photographers will be giving you the celebrity treatment, capturing your night of debauchery like they’re The National Enquirer.  We will post the hottest pictures from the night as soon as the next morning’s hangover has subdued.

Then it’s up to you to decide who takes the top prize. Based on your activity, the four photos with the most comments will be entered into a poll. From there, your votes determine who goes home with the prizes, including concert tickets and Backdrop merchandise.
